Sustainability Information

Recycled & Bio-based Materials

Upper

Cowhide suede leather (bio-based material, non-recycled)

Knitted Panels

Polyester knit (synthetic material, designed for recyclability)

Lining & Laces

Cotton–polyester blend (designed for recyclability)

Outsole

Rubber (durable material, recyclable through applicable rubber recovery systems)

Cowhide suede leather is a bio-based material. While it is not mechanically recyclable into new leather products, it may be reused, downcycled, or processed through specialized leather recovery and controlled waste management systems.

Polyester-based knitted panels, cotton–polyester lining, and laces are designed to be recyclable through established textile recycling streams, subject to local collection and processing systems.

Rubber outsole components may be recovered or recycled through dedicated rubber recycling pathways where infrastructure is available.

Carbon Footprint

Estimated total carbon footprint:

12–16 kg CO₂e per pair

This carbon footprint includes all major lifecycle stages, covering raw material sourcing (cowhide suede leather, knitted polyester, cotton–polyester textiles, and rubber), material processing and finishing, footwear manufacturing and assembly in Italy, as well as downstream logistics, including international sea freight to the United States and domestic distribution to retail locations.

Carbon emission values are estimated based on typical production processes and transport modes for leather footwear products. Actual values may vary depending on material composition, production scale, energy sources, and distribution distances.

Water Footprint

Estimated water use during production:

8,000–12,000 liters per pair

Water consumption is primarily associated with leather tanning and finishing processes, which account for the majority of water use in footwear production. Additional water use occurs during textile processing and manufacturing operations. Values are estimated based on typical leather footwear production practices and may vary depending on tannery processes and water management systems.

Environmental Standards

Leather tanning and finishing processes comply with EU REACH regulations and applicable chemical safety requirements, including restrictions on hazardous substances.

Material sourcing and manufacturing practices follow established European footwear industry standards for chemical management and environmental protection.

Eco Practices

Material selection prioritizes durability, repairability, and long service life as key sustainability strategies.

The use of high-quality suede leather, knitted polyester panels, and durable rubber outsoles supports extended product lifespan and reduced replacement frequency.

Vegetable or low-impact tanning practices commonly adopted by Italian tanneries contribute to reduced chemical impact and improved material longevity, where applicable.

Energy Usage

Manufacturing facilities partially utilize renewable energy sources, subject to regional infrastructure and facility-level availability.

Sustainability Philosophy

This product emphasizes long-term durability and responsible material sourcing as its primary sustainability approach. By combining bio-based cowhide suede leather, recyclable textile components, durable rubber outsoles, and localized production in Italy, the design supports extended product use, reduced replacement frequency, and improved overall lifecycle performance.
